MARIETTA, Ga. -- Jurors are expected to begin deliberations Friday in the trial of a man accused of killing a flight attendant in 1995.

The deliberations begin after the jury heard nearly four hours of closing arguments on Thursday.

Waseem Daker is charged with murder in the Oct. 23, 1995 strangling death of 30-year-old Karmen Smith in her East Cobb home. Prosecutors say he also repeatedly stabbed Smith's 5-year-old son Nick, who survived the attack. Daker was 18 years old at the time.

The prosecution said that Daker had been stalking a woman who lived upstairs from Smith.

Daker, who lived in Duluth, was arrested in Gwinnett County in 2010, nearly 15 years after the crime.

Friends said Smith was prom queen and lettered in several sports at Williamsburg High School in Iowa. Her job as a Delta flight attendant was her first job after graduating from college.
