(WXIA) -- A release from 89-year-old comic book legend Stan Lee Friday revealed that he's had a pacemaker implanted druing a surgery.
The Iron Man co-creator was upbeat in the release.
"In an effort to be more like my fellow Avenger, Tony Stark, I have had an electronic pacemaker placed near my heart to ensure that I'll be able to lead thee for another 90 years," he said in the release.
Lee recently canceled several appearances, which led to speculation about his health. Lee keeps a robust schedule of appearances at comic book conventions and other events throughout the year, and has made cameos on most of the Marvel Comics superhero films, most recently in 'The Avengers.'
