ATLANTA -- Buford Highway has reopened near Dresden Drive.

A broken fire hydrant shut down all lanes of the roadway, which is just south of DeKalb-Peachtree Airport, for nearly two hours Thursday morning.

At around 6 a.m, a vehicle hit a fire hydrant, which sent water shooting across the roadway. It kept spraying until just before 7:45 a.m., when it was capped off.

That stretch of Buford Highway is a popular route for drivers who want to avoid Interstate 85.
