Creekside HS (Fulton County Schools)
FAIRBURN, Ga. -- Several students were expelled from Creekside High School after a loaded handgun was discovered during a fight on Friday afternoon.
A letter from Creekside High School Principal Brian Jones to parents stated:
Today a few students got into a fight. One of those students had a handgun, which was quickly confiscated by Fulton County Schools Police. As alarming as this sounds, please know that this situation was handled swiftly and immediately. The learning process was disrupted at a minimal and students and staff were not in harm's way.
The letter also says that the student with the handgun and the other students involved in the fight have been removed from the school. According to Jones, the students will be disciplined to the fullest extent of the law.
Samantha Evans, spokesperson for Fulton County Schools confirmed the incident Friday and said that charges against the student include: aggravated assault, possession of a weapon on school property, making terroristic threats.
One of the students involved in the altercation was transported to hospital as a precaution.
The ages of the students involved have not been released.
