North Atlanta High School (APS)
ATLANTA - In a move that surprised parents and students, the administration of North Atlanta High School was ousted Friday afternoon, according to parents who emailed 11Alive News and an article on the school newspaper's website.
A letter signed by Atlanta's interim school superintendent Errol Davis released late Friday announced the decision to replace the school's entire administrative staff with a transitional staff.
The letter said interim principal Mark Mygrant and his entire administrative staff would be replaced until the newly-hired permanent principal, Dr. Howard Taylor begins serving in that post on October 29. Taylor has been a principal in the Gwinnett County School System.
A transitional administrative staff has been put in place, according to Davis' letter, which includes eight transitional "academy leaders" and a transitional assistant principal.
No word was given by Davis or his staff as to the reason for the abrupt change. Late Saturday afternoon, Davis' office said they would meet with North Atlanta High parents, students and members of the community Tuesday at 6 pm to discuss the transition and what he calls the "new direction" for the school.
