Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Gerald Henderson scored 19 points and Byron
Mullens poured in 18 to lead the Charlotte Bobcats over the Washington
Wizards, 100-88, in the first of eight preseason games for both teams.
Henderson led all scorers and Mullens hauled in a team-high eight rebounds for
Charlotte, while rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist -- the No.2 pick in the 2012
NBA Draft -- contributed 12 points in his first NBA action. He also grabbed
six rebounds and came up with three steals.
New acquisitions Ben Gordon and Ramon Sessions made solid contributions off
the bench for the Bobcats. Gordon shot 6-of-11 and finished with 16 points.
Sessions scored 14 while dishing out five assists and pulling in five
rebounds.
Bradley Beal, the third pick of the 2012 draft class, and Martell Webster led
the Wizards with 18 points a piece off the bench. Washington's starters only
managed 36 points combined.
The Wizards trailed by double-digits the entire second half until Webster
scored on two layups to cut the deficit to six with 3:31 left to play in the
game, but the Bobcats scored the next seven points to regain a 13-point
advantage and seal the victory.
