ATLANTA -- The Peach State ranks seventh for the most women-owned businesses, according to the State of Women-Owned Businesses Report commissioned by American Express OPEN.
Georgia has an estimated 283,400 women-owned firms that employ 230,500 workers and have roughly $41.5 billion in revenue.
Georgia's growth in women-owned firms from 1997 and 2012 was the best in the nation at 95%.
Atlanta ranked No. 7 of the major metros, with 179,000 women-owned firms that employ 146,700 people and generate $29.9 billion in revenue.
