ALBANY, Ga. -- A report by a UK-based company that follows digital downloads shows that, per capita, the Albany Metro area is the second-worst offender when it comes to illegal downloads of music, reports The Albany Herald.
MusicMetrics says that, during the survey period, residents within the metro Albany area illegally downloaded or pirated 194,373 songs from music downloading programs connected to the Internet, the paper reports.
Atlanta came in at No. 10. Macon is No. 6.
Overall, Georgia was the top state in terms of illegally downloaded songs per capita, followed by New York, Kentucky, Louisiana and Florida, the paper added.
Gainesville, Fla. had the most illegal downloads per capita.
The other cities in the top five are: Fairbanks, Alaska, Lexington, Ky., and Tallahassee, Fla.
