Jonesboro City Councilman Joe Compton was arrested for DUI (Clayton County Criminal Records)
JONESBORO, Ga. -- Jonesboro City Councilman Joe Compton was arrested Wednesday evening for driving under the influence.

Jonesboro Police responded to a hit-and-run on Arnold Place, near Compton's home, at around 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Officials said Compton lost control of his truck, drove off the road, regained control and then hit a mailbox. After the accident, Compton reportedly drove down the street and parked his car.
Compton was arrested and charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident and improper lane change.
