JOHNS CREEK, Ga. -- Bobby Cox is ticketed for the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.  Yet he still thinks about those in his own backyard who need him to go to bat for the right reasons.

The former Braves manager still keeps his hand in the game by consulting with GM Frank Wren and manager Fredi Gonzalez, but he also has time to work on projects like the Daniel Hager Memorial Endowment Fund.

The fund was established by Bobby's friends Kaye and Gerry Litzinger to honor the life of their son. When they told the longtime Braves field boss what they had in mind, they didn't even have to ask, he volunteered to round up celebrities for a golf tournament.

As former Falcon and Brave Brian Jordan said, when Bobby calls, you listen. Former Falcons quarterback and current board of director member Steve Bartkowski said "Bobby's one of my heroes; what he's done for the city is amazing".

Prior to the October 16th event at St. Ives in Johns Creek, the fund had helped 20 students from North Fulton, Forsyth and Eastern Cherokee Counties attend Georgia Tech. The West Lanier Georgia Tech Club awards the scholarships.
