ATLANTA -- The French ambassador to the United States is set to visit Atlanta to open a series of events meant to promote cooperation between France and the Southeast.
Atlanta's French consulate says Ambassador Francois Delattre plans to join Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed to kick off "France-Atlanta 2012" on Oct. 25.
The event, which is presented by the French consulate and Georgia Tech, includes several business, cultural and humanitarian events between Oct. 25 and Nov. 10. This will be the third year of the partnership.
During his visit, the French ambassador also plans to recognize the longstanding relationship between France and Georgia Tech. Delattre plans to present Georgia Tech associate vice president for development with a French honor known as the National Order of Merit.
