ATLANTA -- U.S. Marshals say they have arrested 51-year-old Floyd Palmer at Macy's at Lenox Square.

Palmer is accused of shooting a church volunteer at point blank range at World Changers Church International Wednesday morning.

Officers went through Palmer's home Wednesday afternoon looking for evidence. They returned overnight with a bomb squad over concern for what turned out to be a homemade alarm system.

Investigators said Palmer entered a chapel on the church's campus and started shooting. Palmer is a former church employee; he resigned in August of this year, according to Fulton County spokeswoman Kay Lester.

Fulton County officials confirmed that the victim was 39-year-old Greg McDowell, a church volunteer.

Investigators say McDowell was on stage and leading a prayer when he was shot. Lester said multiple shots were fired, but no one else was injured.

The church, which is headed up by Pastor Creflo Dollar, is located on Burdett Road near Old National Highway in south Fulton County.  Dollar was not at the church when the shooting happened.

The church's daycare was evacuated after the shooting. Parents were called to pick up their children.

Nearby Bethune Elementary School and McNair Middle School were temporarily on lockdown after the shooting, according to a Fulton County Schools spokesperson.
