ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- The teenager who was severely burned after crashing his Ferrari in Alpharetta last week has died.
Akshay Panducherry, 18, died of his injuries Wednesday, according to Alpharetta Department of Public Safety spokesman George Gordon.
Panducherry crashed his 2008 Ferrari F430 in the woods off of Webb Bridge Road last Friday. Investigators said he'd had the car for about a week; it was a gift from his family for his 18th birthday.
The teen and his passenger, 21-year-old Harshavardhan Patlolla, suffered second- and third-degree burns when the Ferrari caught fire after the crash.
Gordon said investigators are now officially treating the case as a fatality crash investigation.
