San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - The San Diego Padres reinstated five players from the 60-day disabled list on Friday, including pitcher Cory Luebke.

The 27-year-old Luebke made five starts for the Padres in 2012 before undergoing Tommy John surgery in late May. The southpaw went 3-1 while pitching to a 2.61 ERA prior to injuring his throwing elbow on May 2.

The Padres also reinstated pitcher Joe Wieland, catcher Nick Hundley and infielder/outfielders Kyle Blanks and James Darnell from the 60-day DL.

Wieland made his major league debut in 2012, making five starts but finished 0-4 with a 4.55 ERA before also requiring Tommy John surgery.

Hundley hit .157 with three homers and 22 RBI over 58 games with San Diego last season, however his campaign was cut short after requiring arthroscopic knee surgery in late August.

Appearing in just four games with the Padres in 2012, Blanks had his season come to an end after straining his shoulder on April 14. Less than two weeks later, the righty underwent shoulder surgery and was forced to sit out the rest of the campaign.

Darnell also required season-ending shoulder surgery after being placed on the disabled list in May. He played in just seven games, going 4-for-17 with a double and a home run.

Lastly, the club designated pitcher Josh Spence and outfielder Blake Tekotte for assignment.
