LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- A 17-year-old Meadowcreek High student was arrested after a hit and run involving a school resource officer on Thursday afternoon.

Police say School Resource Officer Chuck McCallum was pursuing a student on foot, stemming from an incident at the high school, when he was struck by 17-year-old Jarvis Ruff.

The hit and run occurred at the intersection of Steve Reynolds Boulevard and Windward Lane.

After the accident, Huff continued driving down Steve Reynolds Boulevard toward Indian Trail Road. Authorities say he lost control of his car on Indian Trail Road and crashed into a stone sign at the entrance of the Indian Trail Apartment Homes.

Ruff is being charged with hit and run, driving without a driver's license, improper lane change, speeding, reckless driving, and failure to report striking a fixed object.
