STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. -- Friends and family are saying their final farewells to Henry County Police Officer Elgin Daniel.
The 53-year-old was killed by a hit and run driver while helping a stranded motorist in Stockbridge Monday night.

Daniel's funeral is being held at the Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church on Flat Shoals Parkway in Decatur.
A graveside service will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens on Fairview Road in Stockbridge.
A viewing was held Thursday at the Horace A. Ward Funeral Home in Stockbridge.
Officer Daniel leaves behind a wife and three grown children.
Before joining the Henry County Police force, he served with DeKalb County Police for 26 years and retired as a lieutenant. Thursday morning, DeKalb CEO Burrell Ellis directed staff to lower flags to half staff in Daniel's honor.
