(WXIA) -- Despite talk of continuously high unemployment rates, the Georgia Department of Labor announced that October's unemployment rate is 8.7 percent. That is down three-tenths of a percentage point from September. Last year, around this time, the jobless rate was at 9.7 percent.

Several companies in Georgia have been growing. This includes Ricoh Electronics, Inc., one of the largest North American producers of high-quality thermal papers and thermal labels, whose expansion is creating 58 jobs in its facility in Lawrenceville. However, they are not the only company hiring.
The Help Desk has gathered together a list of job fairs happening in the Atlanta area. On December 1 and 2, TGI Friday's at Stonecrest Mall in Lithonia will be hiring 70 positions on the spot.
There will also be a Veterans Career Fair and Diversity Expo in Duluth with companies like Aflac and Crystal Springs ready to fill 500 different positions.
