ATLANTA, Ga. -- More empty seats at the Georgia Unemployment Office and Career Center could signal that things are looking up for Georgia jobs.

But not for everyone.

Stephanie Graves worked in a bank and has been out of work since last May.

"Its been difficult to find jobs that fit into my educational status and what I have been doing in the past, and the pay ranges have been quite low," she said.

But the numbers from the Georgia Department of Labor are encouraging.

36,000 jobs were created in October primarily in retailing, education, health care, business and financial services.
It brought the Georgia workforce to 3.9-million, the highest since December, 2008. And, it also brought the State's unemployment rate down from 9% to 8.7%.

"The significant job growth tells us that we are turning the corner and we certainly hope that this is going to continue," said Sam Hall of the Georgia Department of Labor.

It's a feeling shared by Dara Schurman on the first day of her job search.

"First time I had ever been here. I went on the computer, put in my experience and it gives you 3 different jobs that print out. The one I called I got the job," she said.

And more jobs are coming to Metro Atlanta.

The latest are in Lawrenceville where Ricoh Electronics is adding 58 new employees when it expands its thermal and label plant.

The Company is teaming up with Gwinnett Tech and Georgia Quick Start to train the new workers.
