CONYERS, Ga. -- Police have identified the man and woman involved in a domestic dispute in Conyers on Friday morning.

According to police, 21-year-old Pernell Presley and his mother 42-year-old Trisa Stallworth were hospitalized after a violent attack witnessed by several schoolchildren in Conyers.

Conyers Police Lt. Jackie Dunn said the man's mother was sleeping on her couch in the Eastmont subdivision near Sigman Road when she awoke to find her son standing over her and stabbing her.

Somehow, Dunn said the woman managed to run out onto Rockbridge Road, where her son continued to stab her in the middle of the street. He also stabbed himself in the throat and stomach.

Dunn said a school bus with children on board drove by while this was happening and students who saw the attack are now being interviewed by police. He said a firefighter also saw the attack, called 911 and tried to stop the suspect, but did not succeed. The firefighter was not hurt.

Acccording to Dunn, Conyers Police arrived shortly after 8 a.m. and ordered the suspect to stop, but he refused and instead charged at an officer, who fired at the man.

The two are still in metro Atlanta hospitals. Presley is listed in serious but stable condition and Stallworth in stable.
