PERRY, Ga. (AP) -- A mock city built so emergency workers can train for disasters is nearing completion in a central Georgia city.
The complex known as "Guardian City" in Perry will serve as a training facility for emergency responders from around the nation.
Officials say construction of the mock city, built at a former Northrop Grumman plant, is almost complete. The first exercise is planned for December, with about 40 Marines planning to work an earthquake response scenario.
The mock city will include a dual-track subway, a mile-long interstate, a floodable neighborhood and two blocks of demolished buildings.
