Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo and
Brooklyn forwards Kris Humphries and Gerald Wallace were ejected during a
first-half fight at TD Garden.
The first half featured six technical fouls and a noticeable foul-shooting
disparity. Brooklyn had attempted 17 free throws to Boston's two into the
closing seconds of the half, but Humphries was whistled for a hard foul
against Kevin Garnett on the baseline, including an extra push that infuriated
both Garnett and Rondo, who charged at Humphries and started a brawl that
included pushing, shoving and perhaps a swing or two.
When the dust settled, officials ejected Rondo, handed a technical foul to
Garnett and second technicals to Humphries and Wallace, leading to the
ejection of Brooklyn's two starting forwards.
Rondo's ejection ended his streak of double-digit assists at 37 games,
matching former Utah Jazz point guard John Stockton for second on the all-time
list. Magic Johnson holds the record at 46 games. Rondo had three assists when
he was ejected.
