Candlelight vigil for Jorelys Rivera
CANTON, Ga. -- Cherokee County residents spent Sunday night paying tribute to a little girl who was abducted and killed in Canton one year ago.
Friends and family members lit candles for Jorelys Rivera at the Pruett Community Center YMCA. They wiped away tears as people took turns sharing their memories of the little girl.
The 7 year old was playing outside her family's apartment complex when she was abducted. Her body was found several days later, following a massive search effort.
Ryan Brunn, a maintenance worker at the complex, admitted to kidnapping and killing Jorelys. He went on to plead guilty to the crime, just before taking his own life in jail.
