MARIETTA, Ga. -- Authorities have identified the driver of a car that was killed Friday evening in a chain reaction crash that happened at the intersection of Cobb Parkway and Akers Mill Road.
Cobb Police Sergeant Dana Pierce said 59-year-old Warrren Thomas of Atlanta was deceased upon arrival at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
Investigators believe that Thomas may have experienced some type of medical distress, which caused the crash. Officers said Thomas' Chevrolet entered the intersection on a red light and was struck by a Mitsubishi Montero, which was southbound on Cobb Parkway. The Chevrolet continued in an easterly direction and was struck a second time by a Toyota Camry.
One occupant of the Toyota had very minor injuries, and the driver of the Mitsubishi was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
