ATLANTA -- Atlanta Police are investigating a robbery at a Radio Shack on Piedmont Road near Sidney Marcus Boulevard.
According to Officer K.Y. Jones, a witness reported seeing a U-Haul backed up to the front of the store at about 4:30 a.m. Monday.
When officers arrived, they found glass smashed and the front door caved in, but no U-Haul. Police spotted the U-Haul on southbound Interstate 85.
"When the officers activated their lights and siren, the suspect accelerated," Jones said.
Jones said the U-Haul was ditched at Angier and Peace avenues in the Old Fourth Ward. Several stolen items were recovered and blood was found inside the U-Haul, but the suspect or suspects got away on foot.
