CUMMING, Ga. -- Funeral services will be held Friday for a popular 17 year old who was killed in a car accident near North Forsyth High School.
Kyle Robins' funeral will be held at 5 p.m. at Mountain Lake Church in Cumming. A private burial will be held at a later date, according to an announcement from the school.
Robins was a junior and member of North Forysth's golf team.
"Kyle wasn't just well-liked; he was loved," Principal Beth Herbert said.
In lieu of flowers, Robins' family is asking for donations to be made to the golf team or the Forsyth County Humane Society.
In one of his last tweets, Robins wrote "You never realize what you take for granted until it's gone. It's time I value things more and appreciated the little things in life."
His best friend, 16-year-old junior Joel Knost, was critically injured riding along with Robins Monday. Knost was released from North Fulton Hospital Tuesday and spoke with 11Alive's Jon Shirek about Robins and what he wishes he could say to all teen drivers.
Forsyth County Sheriff's Cpl. David Garrison said Robins was speeding when he hit a curve on Hendrix Road near Highway 369 and hydroplaned.
"The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it came into the curve at the Dexter subdivision," Garrison said in a statement. "The vehicle then hydroplaned and the driver lost control."
Garrison said the impact of the crash cut Robins' Pontiac Grand Am in half.

Traffic investigators with Forsyth County retrieved data from the car's CDR, a device similar to an airplane's black box. They say Robins was driving 77 miles per hour about 3 seconds before the accident. The posted speed was 30 miles per hour.
Cpl. Garrison of Forsyth County said speed, low tire tread and weather all contributed to the accident. "It's a reminder to everyone, not just young people, to slow down in rainy weather," he said.
The driver behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Silverado that collided with the teens' car, 30-year-old Brandi Densmore, was not hurt, but three passengers in the truck suffered minor injuries, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.
One of them was 18-year-old Allyson Jameson, a senior at North Forsyth High School; she was taken to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell. Densmore's 2-year-old and 7-year-old children also suffered minor injuries and have since been released from Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite.
Monday's accident happened just two miles away from North Forsyth High School not long after classes let out, so students could hear the sirens from responding emergency vehicles and walked over to the crash site. School leaders called the students back so they wouldn't impede the investigation.
Counselors were on hand Monday and Tuesday to meet with students and staff.
The Student Fellowship of Christian Athletes led a prayer at the school flagpole Tuesday morning for the teens and their families.
