DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- A 5 year old is dead after possibly being hit by a FedEx truck Tuesday afternoon.
The accident happened at around 3 p.m. at the Kensington Station Apartments in DeKalb County.
Police initially said they suspected a FedEx delivery driver of hitting the boy. Later, a police spokeswoman said they're getting conflicting witness reports, and it may have been a car that hit the boy.
According to DeKalb County Police dispatch, the child was unresponsive upon their arrival.
DeKalb County Police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said the child was transported to a local medical center where he was pronounced dead.
In a statement from FedEx, the company stated:
"We are heart-broken about this child and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. We are actively cooperating with authorities in their investigation."
An investigation is ongoing.
