CANTON, Ga. -- A crossing guard was hit by a minivan in front of a Cherokee County elementary school Wednesday morning.
Michelle Hale, 42, was struck shortly after 7 a.m. while directing traffic in front of Hickory Flat Elementary School in Canton, according to Cherokee County Sheriff's Lt. Jay Baker.
Hale was taken to North Fulton Hospital with a non-life-threatening leg injury, Baker said.
The driver of the minivan, 18-year-old Alexander Hopkins, was cited for driving with an obstructed windshield and failing to obey a traffic controller.
