ROME, Ga. -- Berry College is giving the public a chance to view its pair of bald eagles up close.

The college's eagle cam, mounted atop a pole near the birds' nest, is now live.

The pair first showed up in March and built a nest in a pine tree close to the main entrance of the school's athletic and recreation center. Students, faculty and staff have visited to catch a glimpse of the eagles.

The birds were seen building a nest, but were gone by April. They returned in October and were seen mating in November. It wasn't known whether or not any eggs had been laid.

Last year, there were 142 documented nesting pairs of bald eagles in Georgia. Of those, 111 were successful in producing 175 eaglets.
