DULUTH, Ga. -- Andruw Jones has been released from jail after being arrested for simple battery on Christmas Day.
Gwinnett County Police Sgt. Rich Long said the former Braves center fielder was arrested at around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday after he and his wife got into a fight. He was released on $2,400 bond at 11 a.m.
According to a police report, Jones' wife Nicole told officers she tried to escape upstairs, but her husband grabbed her by the ankle and dragged her down some stairs, got on top of her and said, "I want to kill you."
Jones began playing for the Braves in 1996 and stayed with them for 12 years. He was the youngest player to ever hit a home run in the World Series, according his MLB career stats.
He has most recently played for the New York Yankees.
