ATLANTA -- One man is dead and another is in jail after Atlanta Police say they attempted to rob someone on Christmas Eve.

The attempted robbery happened at around 10:30 p.m. Monday on Jackson Street near Edgewood Avenue in the Old Fourth Ward, according to Atlanta Police spokeswoman Kim Jones.

The two suspects were trying to rob a man when the unidentified victim pulled out a gun and shot one of them, Jones said.

The non-injured suspect, 21-year-old Roderick Banks, drove his accomplice to Grady Memorial Hospital, according to Jones. That man was pronounced dead at the hospital; his name has not been released.

Banks was arrested and charged with felony murder and aggravated assault. He is being held without bond in the Fulton County Jail. Police did not charge the robbery victim.
