(WXIA) - A 200 year old mansion on Long Island has found a new life as, of all things, a McDonald's.

Blogs PSFK and ScoutingNY have noted that the Georgian mansion, dating from the 1790s was abandoned and falling apart in the mid 1980s when it was purchased by McDonald's, who planned to raze the property for a new restaurant along busy Jericho Turnpike in New Hyde Park.

After much local outcry, the mansion, known as The Denton House, was given new life when the fast food giant decided to restore the property, which was granted landmark status in 1987.
