GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- The Hall County Sheriff's Office SWAT team arrested Donald Josh Deal early Wednesday morning at his Gainesville home.

According to deputies, they responded to Holland Drive, off Brown's Bridge Road around midnight on Wednesday after receiving word that a man had fired gunshots at utility workers. When deputies arrived, they saw an electrical utility crew working to restore power after trees had fallen on power lines.

The workers told deputies that as they were evaluating damage from weather outside a home, a man stepped outside, and began cursing at them and threatening them with a handgun. Then, he fired at least two shots at the utility crew.

The workers were not injured, and ran away to call 911.

Deputies said 62-year-old Deal had returned back inside his home, and refused to come out when deputies ordered him to. At that point, SWAT commanders came to help, and began negotiating with Deal. Around 2:00 a.m., Deal voluntarily came out of his home and was arrested.

Deal is being held at the Hall County Jail on two counts of Aggravated Assault. Bond has not yet been set, and Deal awaits his first appearance.

The Hall County Sheriff's office is still investigating the case.
