Barrier blocks former turn lane.
MORNINGSIDE -- Commuters in Morningside have been dealing with a lot of construction of late, but no aspect of it has caused as much of a stir as a concrete barrier recently installed on North Morningside Drive at North Highland Ave.
The barrier is part of the 'Safe Routes to School' program designed to enhance safety for children walking to school. But a lot of residents didn't know why it was there. All they know is that it replaced a former turn lane and backs up traffic for up to a quarter mile during evening rush.
Neighbors are so frustrated, that they contacted 11Alive's Commuter Dude both for answers and for help.
