BOSTON -- A battery reportedly exploded and caused a fire on a Japan Airlines jet at Boston's Logan International Airport Monday morning.
NBC station WHDH says the jet, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, caught fire after it arrived in Boston at about 10:15 a.m. A mechanic noticed light smoke coming from the underside of the plane.

According to WHDH, the entire cabin was filled with smoke. They said the fire was contained to a four-by-four foot area of the underside of the plane, in a compartment with batteries and other electrical components.
The FAA is investigating the fire. According to Boston aviation officials, the jet was brand new to Japan Airlines, having been delivered in December.
The 787 Dreamliners have been in service with airlines around the world since October 2011.
