AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) -- Firefighters responding to a fire at an Augusta motel found a man dead in the back of his room after they put out the blaze.
The fire happened Sunday evening at the Courtesy Motel on 15th Street.
Deputy Coroner Johnny McDonald said the victim appeared to be about 42 years old. His name wasn't released because family members were being notified. An autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of his death.
Augusta Fire Chief Chris James said the cause of the fire was still being determined.
