Newark, NJ Mayor Cory Booker (WNBC)
NEWARK, NJ -- Newark Mayor Cory Booker has filed papers allowing him to raise money for a U.S. Senate run in New Jersey.
The Democrat told WNBC New York last month that he was exploring a run for Democratic Sen. Frank Lautenberg's seat.
The papers were filed Tuesday with the Federal Election Commission. They list "Cory Booker for Senate" as the name of his committee, and Judith Zamore as his treasurer.
Booker, in a video posted to his YouTube page, said he would finish his term as mayor and would not challenge New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in next year's gubernatorial race.
