Atlanta-- Two Georgians are heading to the Punt, Pass and Kick National Championships to represent their state at the Georgia Dome Saturday morning. They'll face off against dozens of competitors in events designed to test both accuracy and distance. They've already beaten hundreds of other kids at several different levels to make it to this point.
As first reported by the Gwinnett Daily Post, seven-year-old Omar Zachery Jr. of Lawrenceville is already set on winning.
"I'm a beast-I'm pretty good," Zachery said Friday after his family checked into an Atlanta hotel. "That's all."
Grady High School allowed Omar and his father to show off for 11Alive's cameras on their football field. He said he loved the crowd's attention in earlier events, but planned to tune them out Saturday morning.
"You don't have to look at them, you just have to go do what you're going to do," Omar Jr. said.
The other competitor is 13-year-old Andrew Johns of Buford. He couldn't get out of school early Friday, but plans to give it his best shot on Saturday as well.
