KING 5 morning anchors Mark Wright and Joyce Taylor wearing Atlanta Falcons jerseys on the air after the Seattle Seahawks lost to the Falcons last Sunday (KING 5 Seattle)
ATLANTA (WXIA) -- Morning anchors Mark Wright and Joyce Taylor at our Seattle NBC sister station KING 5 made a bet with our own Ted Hall and Karyn Greer over last Sunday's NFC Divisional playoff game.
If Seattle won, Ted and Karyn would have to wear Seattle Seahawks jerseys on the air, while if Atlanta won, Mark and Joyce would have to wear Falcons jerseys.
Monday, after the Falcons' win, Ted and Karyn let Mark and Joyce off the hook, just asking them to sing a Falcons fight song instead of wearing the jerseys.
KING 5 viewer Ken Burns contacted Joyce on Facebook and said that a bet is a bet -- that Mark and Joyce should honor the bet, just as Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson would do.
Joyce - About the bet!!! Today I am still a wreck about the Seahawks loss and will be at least until the first regular season game next year. I watched the conversation with the ATL team and I thought "What would Russell Wilson do?". The bet was that the losing team would wear on-air the opposing teams Jersey and to that end that is what the payment should be. The standup thing to do is to go out, purchase the ATL Jersey and wear it for a segment of which you call those folks back up and share with them the fact you did it. That is how we should represent the City and the Seahawks as they have played all year with Style, Grace, and integrity. BTW been watching you for years and love how you report the news!! GO HAWKS!!!!
So Mark and Joyce donned the number 2 of Matt Ryan on the air Thursday morning to pay off their portion of the bet.
