Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. does not have to come to an end. There still remain opportunities to honor Dr. King for the duration of the week. In conjunction with MLK Day, 11Alive's Help Desk found more Day of Service events honoring Dr. King's legacy.
In remembrance of Dr. King, Clayton State University's Dental Hygienic students, faculty and staff will be providing free oral health screenings and X- rays for a Day of Service to the community. The screenings will take place at the Clayton State Dental Hygiene Clinic. These services start at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013. New patients can receive these services free of charge with an appointment. The clinic can be contacted at (678) 466-4920.
In addition to Clayton State University's Day of Service, the "Be the Dream" committee will be conducting a, "Help Beautify the King Center" project. The community will be encouraged to further Dr. King's legacy and assist with eliminating trash, removing old furniture, painting bookstores, and cleaning exhibits. This project will take place at the King Center, Saturday, January 26th 2013 from 8:00am-2:00pm. Volunteers must be 8 years or older. To sign up you can visit www.handsonatlanta.org.
