At least 4 hurt in campus shooting outside Houston

HOUSTON (WXIA) - At least four people were hurt, one critically after a shooting at Lone Star College's North Harris just north of Houston Tuesday afternoon.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office told the Houston Chronicle the shooting happened shortly after noon on the campus. They said the shooting may have happened in the library.

KPRC says the the shooting was tied to an altercation between two students in or near the campus library.

Authorities said they have two suspects in custody in connection with the shooting. During the search for suspects, the Lone Star College campus and at least four nearby grade schools were placed on lockdown.

Officials told KPRC that two people were hit by gunfire in the shooting, the other two injuries were sustained by individuals in the wake of the shooting. They did not detail how the other two persons were injured.

Aerial footage from Houston television stations show emergency personnel attending to people on stretchers and at least one person being taken from the scene in an ambulance.

About 18,000 students take classes at the community college's North Harris campus, located in unincorporated Harris County just north of the city of Houston, near Bush Intercontinental Airport.
