Traffic stop turns into more for Conyers officer

CONYERS, Ga. -- A Conyers Police officer stopped a vehicle for operating without insurance on Wednesday.

During the traffic stop, the vehicle was searched and the officer found narcotics, cash and a firearm.

According to Jennifer Edwards, a City of Conyers official, over one pound of marijuana was confiscated, along with over $5,000. The firearm was found to be stolen.

Police arrested the driver, 27-year-old Christopher Reece Brown of Millstone Drive in Conyers. Brown was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession and use of drug-related objects, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and no insurance.

Brown was taken to the Rockdale County Jail, and is being held without bond.
