ATLANTA, Ga. -- Last week, tornadoes ripped through northwest Atlanta taking lives and destroying homes. Recovery has been slow due many homeowners who don't have homeowners insurance.

Jerry Carnes talked to some homeowners on Wednesday afternoon about the massive effort, this weekend, by neighbors to clean up debris and damage all over their community in order to start the road to recovery.

In Adairsville, half of the homeowners have insurance but many community members are relying upon family members and faith.

Anyone who needs help can go to the Adairsville Church of God, which is located at 297 Old Dixie Highway on Thursday at 6 p.m. and to get help.
