ATLANTA -- Atlanta Police say five suspects in a string of recent carjackings are now behind bars in Fulton and Cobb counties.
Police spokesman Carlos Campos said 21-year-old Ladarious Gibbs, 19-year-old Derek Turner, 21-year-old Brandon Washington, 21-year-old Ronald Washington, 24-year-old Andre Clark and 24-year-old Rapheal Banks are all charged with robbery/carjacking.
They're accused of six carjackings, including two at the Fulton County Library on Northside Parkway, and believed to be responsible for even more.
"These are significant arrests, because carjacking is a violent crime that often leads to even more dangerous crimes," Homicide Unit commander Lt. Paul Guerrucci said in a statement. "Getting these men off the streets will make Atlanta, and the metro area, a safer place, without question."
