HENRY COUNTY, Ga. -- A lockdown has been lifted at a Henry County elementary school on Tuesday afternoon, after police searched for a burglary suspect nearby.
Henry County Schools spokesman J.D. Hardin said all activities will be resumed as planned at Bethlehem Elementary School in Locust Grove.
Dismissal of students was modified, Hardin reported, but they were able to leave via their planned rides, either by bus or car pick-up.
The school was placed on lockdown around 11:30 a.m. Hardin said the school notified parents and adjusted pick-up schedules, just as a precaution.
Henry County Police spokesman Sgt. Joey Smith said the incident began during a burglary in Butts County. The suspect ran near the school.
Smith said officers believe the suspect is gone from the area. All units are back on normal patrol.
