GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- A Hall County resident is adopting a Great Pyrenees that he found wounded by an arrow.

According to a Hall County official, Will Peters saw the dog near the intersection of Athens Highway and Lenox Road on February 1. Peters immediately saw that the dog needed medical care.

He took the animal to the Hall County Shelter, and Dr. Meghan Seabolt confirmed she had been pierced by an arrow. Seabolt performed surgery on the Great Pyranees, and successfully removed the arrow from her back.

The dog has been named Florence, and she is now in recovery. Peters has decided to adopt Florence, and will take her home now that she has healed.

Hall County Animal Control posted signs near the intersection where Florence was found. Anyone with more information on what happened to Florence is asked to help with their investigation.

Anyone with information should call the Hall County Animal Shelter at (678) 450-1587.
