ATLANTA -- "Be Bold, Be True -- Celebrating Rebels With A Cause."

This was the theme of the Black History Month celebration that was held at the Midtown headquarters of Big Brothers Big Sisters, and promoted by NIKE.

A gathering of youngsters and their mentors filled the room to hear star athletes tell stories of their lives and how they overcame obstacles to reach the top in their chosen sport.

Former Atlanta Falcons Warrick Dunn and Fred McCrary, and former NHL star Anson Carter took turns addressing the crowd that seemed to hang onto their every word.

The crowd also got to meet NIKE shoe designer Jonathan Johnson-Griffin who designed this year's Black History Month shoe and the new shoe for NBA All-Star LeBron James.

A percentage of the sales for the Black Month collection will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

For the second year, 11Alive sports anchor Sam Crenshaw served as emcee for the Black History Month celebration.
