CUMMING, Ga. -- A three-vehicle accident that happened in Forsyth County on Thursday has left one woman dead.
Deputy First Class Michael Nelson said that 43-year-old Lesia Bennett was pronounced dead at Northside Hospital in Cumming. She was taken there after the crash.
Just before 5 p.m., Thursday, 17-year-old Antonio Mora was driving southbound in a 2004 Nissan Titan on Ga. Highway 9. At the same time, Bennett was travelling eastbound in a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer on North Old Atlanta Road.
The third vehicle was a Forsyth County School Bus, driven by 46-year-old Sheila Trowell. The bus was stopped at a traffic light on Highway 9. Trowell was waiting to make a left turn onto North Old Atlanta Road.
The collision took place when Mora and Bennett came into the intersection on Ga. Highway 9 and North Old Atlanta Road. That crash caused Bennett to run into the passenger side of the school bus, Nelson said.
Mora and Bennett were both taken to Northside. Mora was treated and released shortly after.
According to Nelson, Mora was wearing a seatbelt when the accident happened; Bennett was not. Trowell was not injured.
The collision closed the intersection for about two hours. The roadway reopened at 6:50 that evening.
Nelson said investigators have not determined the cause of the crash. No charges have been filed.
