ATLANTA -- Everybody's Pizza closed Tuesday night after 41 years of business in the Emory Village.
The food was good but there was always more off North Decatur Road inside the restaurant than pizza and beer.
It seems everybody has a story of family and friends at Everybody's. It's an Atlanta legend now gone.
"It's been something the last few weeks, I've seen people I haven't seen in 30 or 40 years, it's real emotional," said Andy Kurlansky, co-owner and founder of Everybody's.
Kurlansky remembers Tom Brokaw on the Today show telling America that, "the greatest pizza is a little joint down in Atlanta called Everybody's."
And what a joint for 41 years.
President Carter could be seen dining at any time and Senator Sam Nunn was a regular. Generations have claimed this place as their own.
Margie Hardy and her husband had their first date here in 1975.
When asked what they remembered about their first date at Everybody's 38 years ago, Margie replied with a smile "great pizza and beer."
And yes, the Hardy's are still married all these years later.
So are the Kennerly's, Nadine & David. The two were students working at Everybody's 23 years ago. Now, with two children the memories are served.
David said "she was working, she had just been hired as a waitress working the host stand, I was a busser in the back and I walked out and said I want her."
Nadine added," It's kind of sad, it's a part of Atlanta going away."
The King's feel that way too, eating here for years, they drove all the way over from Birmingham, what will Robin miss.
"The cheese sticks- - they are really cheesy!"
Three generations of the Van Landinghams are at one table, Everbody's has always been a part of their lives.
Wade Van Landingham said, "The mom and pops are going away, we're missing that. It is going to be tough right?"
A long time waiter tells one table as he delivers food, "It's really a good group and a good community, it's really a shame it's all going away."
Hullinger asked co-owner Andy Kurlansky "Have you thought about Wednesday and what it is going to bring when you don't have this place to come to?
He said, "I'll get up and say what am I going to do today?"
