ATLANTA -- It's been nearly four days since an Atlanta father was killed by a hit and run driver.
Walter Amey was bicycling on Abner Place at around 9 p.m. Saturday when he was hit. The driver left the scene and has not yet been identified.
Amey's daughter Monica, who lived with her father, hopes that raising awareness about the case will help catch the driver.
"No one has seen anything," Monica Amey said. "I'm hoping and praying that someone will come forward."
Amey said her father cared about the environment, which is why he was riding a bike instead of driving. "He was definitely athletic. He loved to bike ride, he loved to run," she said.
Walter Amey was prominent in the northwest Atlanta community, according to his daughter. "He was a kind man, and that's one thing that I remember about my dad. He didn't tell me just to be kind to people, but he showed me how to be kind to people," Monica Amey said.
Monica Amey is now trying to give her father a proper burial. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Walter Amey's memorial service.
Funds can be mailed to William Gayleano Murray & Son Funeral Home, 923 McDaniel Street SW, Atlanta, 30310.
