Georgia World Congress Center is wall to wall volleyball for Easter weekend.
ATLANTA, Ga. -- More than 14,000 girls playing volleyball wall to wall in the massive Georgia World Congress Center is a scene hard to describe.
Looking across the expanse of the exhibition hall, near the top of the nets you see hands, arms, volleyballs. It's controlled mayhem, and it's what these girls, their coaches, and families who support them love to do.
The Big South Volleyball Tournament has been held in Atlanta for the past eight years, and this year there are 200 more teams than in 2012. The quantity and quality of the event means more qualifiers coming out of here for the nationals coming up in Dallas this summer.
Tournament Director Lauri Dagostino told 11 Alive news that due to some space already occupied by NCAA Final Four events, some games even had to be moved to the Cobb Galleria Center. But in most years it's all under one roof at the GWCC, one of the few places in the country equipped to handle it.
